A phenoemenal and hilarious episode of SNL is headed to our screens when legendary comedienne Betty White appears as host.
After NBC executive contemplation and 480,000F acebook fans put in a request for the Golden Girl to host, it is finally official.
Betty will host the May 8th Mother’s Day episode which will unite six former SNL first ladies Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.
SNL creator-producer, Lorne Michaels, admits [the Facebook campaign] “took on a groundswell.”
“[White as the host] isn’t something we would have said no to, [but the campaign] validated that, ‘Oh, that’d be fun’ … It was the outpouring of affection from fans, and we feel the same way,” Michaels added.
The Emmy-Award winning actress first mentioned that she might be hosting when she accepted her SAG Lifetime Achievement Award in January and the buzz had been growing ever since.
Although Betty has no children of her own, Michaels admits,
“She’s the mother of us all in comedy.”
