Ellen Degeneres Quits American Idol; DioGuardi Fired; Jenn

This week has been an explosive one for American Idol. Major and unexpected changes are being made. In the latest AI news, Ellen Degeneres has announced her leave and Karen Dioguardi has been fired.

According to unconfirmed reports Jennifer Lopez will replace Ellen and Stephen Tyler will replace Simon Cowell.

Ellen mentioned that the work load was too much to handle and that she hated having to hurt people’s feelings.

“A couple months ago, I let Fox and the American Idol producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next. It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained for. I also realized this season that while I love discovering, supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes hurt their feelings. I loved the experience working on Idol and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a huge fan of the show and will continue to be.”

I say, “Good for Ellen.” It’s very smart of her to realize that she wasn’t the perfect fit. However, she is hilarious and definitely a geniune person for not wanting to destroy people’s dream, no matter how bad they sound.

I know Ellen will come out on top. Much continued success, girl.
