On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Dallas’ most well-known and favorite businesses, venues, artists and bands were recognized at the 2011 Dallas Observer Awards. House of Blues Dallas was the place to be and (if you’re a Dallasite) by now you know that there’s nothing like an HOB concert. Oh yeah… and performances from the Burning Hotels, RTB2, A.Dd+, The Cannabinoids and Erykah Badu made it all worth the $7.50 ticket price. (really)

The night was full of smiles, laughter, liquor…and of course some gosh darn good music. Dallas Mavericks General Manager Don Nelson served as host for the evening and between awarding the winners, the audience rocked out and bobbed their heads to the hip hop tunes and original sounds of DJ Big Texas.
Each act gave a memorable performance and if you weren’t an A.Dd, RTB2 or Burning Hotel fan when you arrived, you’ve definitely added the groups to your iPod’s by now. (If not…duh!)
Hip Hop duo A.Dd+ performed their already classic singles like Likeamug and Getting Far from their debut project When Pigs Fly (along with the help of Mz. Fortune.) RTB2 performed their single Beta Crush and gave a truly outstanding performance.
Burning Hotels
Soon it was party time and Erykah Badu joined the Cannabinoids onstage to dish out some of the singles (Like Breezy, Low Down and Fuck U)from their whimsical upcoming album. Rocking her (these days) signature Fedora, E. Badu walked out and let her voice and b-girl swag take over. And with a back-up band that includes some of Dallas’ most talented and awarded producers and DJ’s ( like Jah Born, S1, RC Williams, Piknik, Rob Free, Big Texas, A-One, etc,) the Cannabinoids had the entire audience hypnotized into their musically organic New Amerykah experience.
