Giselle Says Tom Needs Prayer for SuperBowl Sunday

In an email, supermodel Gisele Bundchen is asking friends and family to pray hard for her husband to win Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Giants.  “My sweet friends and family,” the e-mail began, according to the New York Post.  “This sunday will be a really important day in my husband’s life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning this super bowl … So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory this sunday. Thank you for your love and support. Love, G  Reached via email, Bundchen told the New York Post on Wednesday: “I am surprised that you received this email; it was a private note only sent to close friends and family.” I guess some family member spilled the beans.

An uncanny twist has surfaced in the suicide of Don Cornelius. We earlier reported that the Soul Train creator went through a rough divorce in 2009 as mentioned by his son Tony, who found his father dead in his L.A. home.

We have now learned that Cornelius’ ex-wife Viktoria will get the pay-out. Two life insurance policies were in his name and because the suicide took place more than two years after he signed them, they cannot be challenged by California law and around $300,000 will issued to the ex…who Cornelius hated.

The couple had a violent past domestic assault cases as well.

A melancholy and shocking day in the world of music and television…

The long time creator, producer and  host of  the pioneering show Soul Train has died quite tragically. The beloved man commited suicide and was found dead in his Los Angeles home on Wednesday.  His body was found at 4 a.m. on the floor of his house on Mulholland Drive with a gunshot wound to the head.

It seems as though  Cornelius suffered from depression, and many health issues, as a result.

ABC News reports that the Soul Train founder, underwent a “21-hour operation in 1982 to correct a congenital malformation in blood vessels in his brain.”

In a 1995 interview, Cornelius said he was not the same person after the operation.

Recently interview by the New York Daily, Tony Cornelius, who worked alongside his father, didn’t reveal specifics of what troubled the TV and music legend. He did mention that his father had serious health problems in the past and suffered from a costly divorce in 2009. He said it was quite troubling to imagine the pain his father must have been in.

“Me, being extremely close to him, I could tell he was uncomfortable,” 

Tony Cornelius said.

Donald Cortez Cornelius, a one time insurance agent turned  journalist inspired by the civil rights movement, recognized that in the late 1960s there was no television venue in the United States for soul music, and introduced many African-American musicians to a larger audience as a result of their appearances on Soul Train.  He  pulled $400 from his own pocket to launch the dance show on a local Chicago TV station in 1970. He actually hosted the show from 1971-1993.

BET is not too thrilled with Nicki Minaj‘s new music video Stupid Hoe. In fact, the network has banned the video.

The song is a bit much…especially for young girls like the two that have become famous for singing and dancing to SuperBass.

The video features Nicki  dancing in a cage and wearing a thong…and the lyrics repeat the words “stupid hoe” about 10 times per chorus.

BET has yet to release a statement with their reasons for banning the song. I don’t expect that they will.

D’Angelo Tumbles Offstage

Hope D’Angelo is ok after he took a fall offstage in Amsterdam, of all places. His Amsterdam concert has now been rescheduled. He recently cancelled all of his Germany concert dates, however. In the past the singer has suffered from substance abuse, weight issues, and several arrests, including one where he was caught with a transgendered prostitute. Maybe, Amsterdam isn’t the best place for D’Angelo right now.

The Muppets Diss FOX News

Yes I confess! I’m a self-proclaimed adult Muppet lover. So the recent rant about the Muppets being prejudice against capitalism and trying to make children anti-business was quite interesting to me. During an Muppets new conference for the U.K. premiere of their recent film The Muppets, Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy were asked about a December segment on Eric Bolling’s “Follow the Money,” that posed the question, “Are Liberals Trying to Brainwash Your Kids Against Capitalism?” Kermit the Frog denied that the Muppets are dangerous to kids and commented on the movie portraying an oil executive as the villain. Miss Piggy, of course, made the most hilarious comment… Check it up top…

DMX Gets Food Poisoning in Miami

While traveling from Miami to Charlotte, NC last night, rapper DMX suffered severe stomach ache and was rushed to the emergency room. He was treated for food poisoning at Gastonia Memorial Hospital outside of Charlotte. He apparently ate some bad shrimp before boarding. He has since been released and is resting at home.

Drake is still taking jabs at  Common in a couple  interviews he recently did, even after he said he wanted to end the beef with Common.

Drake and Common have been in a hip hop battle since November, with Common’s last move being a remix of Rick Ross’s Stay Schemin (in which he describes the Canadian rapper as “Canada Dry“). The Chi-town rapper also released a song called Sweet, where a couple of lines from the track were directed toward Drake.

And Drake recently  revealed that he would have been more than willing to participate in a lyrical diss battle with Common,  if he didn’t think it was only a ploy for attention.

And Common as well has said that he was moving on, only to make a few more backhanded comments in interviews and freestyles about the Young Money star.

Drake admitted to Nah Right:

“No. Because despite how it’s been worded by him that situation is not a “hip hop moment” or a “battle for the sake of musical integrity”…it’s a ploy for attention around the release of an album. More than anything it was just disappointing cause what kid isn’t a fan of what Common has done for our genre. A guy who made such an incredible career for himself based off expressing genuine feelings about life and love is now targeting me for sharing my story.”

According to Prefix Mag, at the Sundance Film Festival, blogger Andrew Barber (FakeShoreDrive) asked if the Toronto native would be responding to the diss. His answer? “Never” and…

“Fuck Common.”

Wow! Sounds like Drake had much respect for Common before this alleged “ploy” came about. And who doesn’t. I don’t know about you, but I call it a little pathetic when iconic old skool rappers take jabs at the new generation. But I ain’t mad at ‘cha Common, even the old heads have to stay relevant somehow.
